Ancestry to Retire Family Tree Maker Software

Ancestry to Retire Family Tree Maker Software

Family Tree Maker is the software that holds my family tree.  The primary benefit of using F.T.M. the ease of data entry and searching ancestry.com.   F.T.M. is able to download matching images from the ancestry web site with the proper source citation, adding support and validation to genealogy research.

I am disappointed Ancestry made this decision.   There are other software packages to replace F.T.M. and better performance too.  The primary reason I stuck with F.T.M. was the easy integration with ancestry.com vast source of original source records.

RootsMagic  is the program I will transition to.   Rootsmagic is able to search Family Search and My Heritage.   May not need Ancestry.com after the switch.

Sometimes corporations make decisions without regard to their customers, this appears to be the case.  Reviewing various blogs seems Ancestry has upset many F.T.M. users.  This will provide me the incentive to move to a better software package.  Both Rootsmagic and Legacy are better packages.
